From Heart Attacks to Heartfelt Stitches
From Heart Attacks to Heartfelt Stitches: My Cro-jo Revival with Laughing Yarns
Introduction
Let me just say it—2023 has been a year. After surviving not one, but two heart attacks in June, my body decided that taking a break was necessary. Add in a few other minor health hiccups, and let’s just say my crochet hook and I had some serious distance between us. Social media? A faint memory for a while. But guess what? I’m back, baby! And a big part of that comeback is thanks to my new website, Laughing Yarns. It’s been my source of inspiration, helping my crochet mojo (or cro-jo) find its way home. And now, I’ve got some seriously fun projects brewing that I can’t wait to share!
The Health Setback
I won’t lie—those heart attacks hit me like a ton of yarn balls. In June, I had to slow down significantly and put aside my love for crochet while focusing on recovery. Creativity took a backseat as I navigated doctors’ appointments, rest, and just making sure I could function again without feeling like a frogged project (crocheters, you know what I mean!).
Taking a break from social media was tough too. My thriving presence across TikTok, Instagram, and the other platforms felt like it was slipping away, but honestly, I was just grateful to be here, healing and taking my time.
The Role of Laughing Yarns
Enter Laughing Yarns, the little spark that rekindled my love for yarn and my zest for life! When I finally got the energy to peek back into the world of crochet, I found this website I had created waiting for me with open arms (or open skeins?). Laughing Yarns is where I channel all my quirky energy, my weird sense of humor, and my passion for yarn crafts. It’s like a cozy, fun, yarn-filled corner of the internet where my creativity could roam free again.
Scrolling through the website, filled with fun projects and vibrant inspiration, helped pull me out of my creative funk. Suddenly, I was itching to grab my hook again and start planning new projects.
Getting My Cro-jo Back
You know that feeling when you finally finish a long-abandoned project? That’s exactly how I felt when my cro-jo (crochet mojo) came back. I was buzzing with ideas, ready to dive into new projects that would get my followers excited too.
Of course, there are those super-secret projects that I’m keeping under wraps. Why, you ask? Because if I talk about them too soon, they might just end up as permanent WIPs (Works in Progress)—and we can’t have that! But rest assured, I’ve got some fun, not-so-secret projects on the horizon that are sure to bring a smile to your face (and maybe a few stitches to your own crochet hook).Social Media Comeback
Let’s talk social media, shall we? During my break, my TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, and Facebook feeds were a little quieter than usual. But now that I’m feeling stronger, I’m ready to pick up the pace again.
I’ve got over 5,000 followers on TikTok who have been incredibly supportive through my health journey, and I’m excited to engage with them even more. Plus, I want to grow across all my platforms—so if you’re not following me on Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, or Facebook, now’s the time! Join the private Facebook group while you’re at it for exclusive content and insider updates on all my crochet adventures.
Expect to see more of my personality, my projects, and (of course) lots of yarn!
Upcoming Crochet Projects
Speaking of projects, I’ve got a few fun ones up my sleeve. Some are playful, colorful creations that will bring out the kid in all of us. Others are a bit more challenging—but equally fun—and I can’t wait to see them come to life.
But let’s be real for a second: some of these ideas are just too new to share. They’re still in the “what if I…” stage, and if I blurt them out now, they might just land in that dreaded WIP pile. You know the one I’m talking about. So, stay tuned! The big reveals will happen when the time is right.
Conclusion
I’m thrilled to be back in action, both in the crochet world and on social media. My health journey may have slowed me down, but it didn’t stop me. Thanks to Laughing Yarns, my cro-jo is back and stronger than ever, and I’ve got a whole bunch of new ideas and yarny goodness to share with you all.
I’m grateful for the community that stuck with me through my recovery, and I’m excited to create, share, and laugh with all of you again. Be sure to follow along, because we’ve got a lot of crochet fun ahead. Let’s do this!
